Cecodap reports 118 adolescents accused of hate crimes in Venezuela between 2024 and 2025
The organization denounces that the minors faced fear, anguish and non-compliance with Lopnna guarantees in the justice system, in a post-electoral context.
According to the source consulted, according to a report by a human rights organization, 118 adolescents were charged in Venezuela with offenses established in the hate law during 2024 and 2025. The figure was presented by the organization's general coordinator, Carlos Trapani, who warned that it is not just a number.
Trapani stated that the adolescents faced fear, anguish and uncertainty, as well as violence from a justice system that failed to meet the minimum guarantees provided in the Lopnna. The information was released on October 5, 2026.
The organization mentioned the post-electoral context following Nicolás Maduro's re-election and the request for reform of the hate law made by Delcy Rodríguez. Cecodap also cited data from Foro Penal, according to which 927 people have been accused of incitement to hatred since 2017.
The charges are based on the hate law and affect only minors in the indicated period. Trapani emphasized the personal impact on the adolescents prosecuted.
The report comes at a time when the application of the regulations and possible modifications are under discussion. The claims about the number of cases and the conditions of the proceedings come directly from the organization and its coordinator.
