Latam Airlines to Resume Direct Santiago-Caracas Flights Starting January 2027
The Chilean airline will operate four weekly frequencies on Airbus A320neo from January 3, 2027, projecting more than 50,000 passengers in the first year.
Latam Airlines announced the resumption of direct flights between Santiago and Caracas beginning January 3, 2027. The Chilean carrier will operate four weekly frequencies on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays using Airbus A320neo aircraft with an approximate flight time of six hours and forty minutes.
The company projects carrying more than 50,000 passengers during the first year of operations. Juan José Tohá, Latam’s director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, stated that the route is part of efforts to strengthen Venezuela’s connectivity with the airline’s main South American hubs and adds to the existing Caracas-Bogotá service.
The Santiago-Caracas route had been suspended since 2024 following a decision by Venezuela’s National Civil Aviation Institute taken after statements by Gabriel Boric at the United Nations. The same route had previously remained interrupted between 2016 and 2023 due to Venezuela’s economic crisis.
The Bogotá-Caracas connection, operated by the same airline, already runs on a daily basis since September 2026 after its reactivation in February.
