Maria Corina Machado demands election date in New York Post column
The opposition leader calls for presidential elections within the next year and signals her return to Venezuela to build a national agreement.

Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado published an opinion column in the New York Post demanding that a date be set for presidential elections within the next year.
In the piece, Machado described her return to Venezuela as urgent and said she intends to travel across the country while seeking a national pact that includes both civilians and the military.
She also called for a set of reforms to guarantee that any vote would be free and fair.
Machado cited U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in support of the need for open elections in Venezuela.
Her party separately indicated it is prepared to meet with interim President Delcy Rodriguez.
