According to the source consulted, according to an interview published on October 4, 2026, Roberto Enríquez, executive secretary of the Plataforma Unitaria Democrática, stated that in three or four months a new National Electoral Council could organize presidential elections.

Enríquez described the United States as a fundamental ally, although he noted differences on Venezuelan migration policy in that country and on the pace of the transition. The coalition expects the arrival of María Corina Machado. Agreements that compromise sensitive national interests would have to be reviewed, according to his statements. Enríquez referred to Delcy Rodríguez’s speech at the UN as the start of an electoral countdown. He criticized the lack of legitimacy of the government and held Miraflores and Maduro responsible for not respecting the July 28, 2024 results.

The Plataforma Unitaria Democrática groups eight opposition parties and Enríquez serves as its executive secretary.

Enríquez maintained that a new electoral body could speed up the call for elections and linked that possibility to the arrival of María Corina Machado. The coalition holds that any agreement affecting sensitive national interests must undergo review.
