The Fraser Institute released its Economic Freedom of the World 2026 Annual Report on October 6, 2026, ranking Venezuela last among 165 countries assessed.

The position, unchanged from the prior year, reflects weaknesses across the five measured areas: size of government, legal system and property rights, sound money, freedom to trade internationally, and regulation.

The report lists Zimbabwe, Sudan, Libya, Myanmar and Iran among the lowest-ranked economies, while Hong Kong, Switzerland, Singapore, New Zealand and the United States hold the top positions.

Cedice Libertad presented the study findings in Venezuela.

The Fraser Institute, the Canadian organization that produces the index, compiled the report from 2024 data. Cedice Libertad serves as the local presenter of the document in the country. The index documents constraints on investment, saving, entrepreneurship and competition stemming from the evaluated conditions.
